Shaw House is the best surviving Elizabethan manor house in Berkshire. It is available for venue hire throughout the year and open to the public in the school holidays. The new public season starts on Saturday 16th February 2013.

Perfect for picnics
The gatehouse is all that survives of the once magnificent Donnington Castle. The site is steeped in history and is especially well known for its role during the English Civil War. Today it is owned by English Heritage and access is free.
Much of the area around Newbury is part of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This group of prehistoric barrows just outside Lambourn is typical of the open countryside of the Berkshire Downs.
Newbury town centre
Newbury has a very vibrant town centre with a great mix of shops, pubs and restaurants along the pedestrianised main streets. There is a twice weekly market and a strong programme of free special events throughout the year.
