Lantern making at New Greenham ArtsLantern making at New Greenham Arts

Take part in the free lantern making workshops in the run-up to Newbury's third Festival of Light lantern procession.

Starting with a framework of willow sticks (withies), the basic shape is covered with tissue paper soaked in glue and lit internally by a candle. A pyramid shape is usually easiest to construct.

Group leaders will be on hand to advise.

The lantern can then be carried on a bamboo stick outdoors, as part of the beautiful Festival of Light lantern procession on Sunday 16th December.
