Cholsey Silver Band at Victoria Park

What better way to spend a couple of hours on a summer's afternoon than enjoying one of the local brass or silver bands playing at the bandstand in Victoria Park in Newbury.

Cholsey Silver Band – spanning 3 centuries! The first record of a band in Cholsey was in 1847 at the celebration of the refurbishment of St John Baptist Church, Moulsford. Perhaps the greatest contribution that the Band has made during the past 153 years is that it has been the means of so many people learning to play a musical instrument. It is estimated that several hundred people have either taken their first musical steps with the Band or have been enabled to improve their standard of playing.

So bring your deck chairs, picnic rugs and a few refreshments and relax for a couple of hours alongside the Kennet & Avon canal.
