Enjoy an evening bat walk around the Thatcham Nature Discovery Centre lake.

The lakes and insects that fly above it act as a magnet to several species of bat. You'll wait until dusk and venture out with bat detectors and torches to discover what is in the evening sky. Dave Endicott from the Oxford bat group is a mine of bat related information and will help with identification, and answer all your bat questions.

From M4: Take juction 12 off the M4 and head for A4 Newbury. On entering Thatcham follow the signs for NATure Discovery Centre, turning left at the first major set of traffic lights you reach. You will pass 'Waitrose' supermarket on your right hand side. Continue along lower Way, cross over several mini roundabouts following signs for Newbury. The Nature Discovery Centre is located on the left hand side of the road after the playing fields.

From Newbury: At Robin Hood roundabout, head out along the A4 London Road towards Thatcham. Go straight through the traffic lights at the junction for hambridge Road Industrial Estate and Nebwury Raceecourse and turn at the next set of traffic lights onto Lower Way (opposite West Berkshire Community Hospital) Continue along Lower Way and the Nature Discovery Centre is located on the right hand side of the road.
