Buckebury Avenue

Kate Middleton Country

Since Prince William and Catherine (Kate) Middleton announced their engagement on 23rd November 2011 the area around Bucklebury became known as 'Kate Middleton Country'. Catherine's family home is in Chapel Row which is part of Bucklebury parish.

Much of the parish is dominated by Bucklebury Common, one of the largest commons in southern England. Although privately owned it is open to the public and provides a great place for a peaceful stroll. The inner row of the avenue of oaks were planted to celebrate a visit by Queen Elizabeth I and the outer row were planted to celebrate Wellington's victory at Waterloo in 1815.
