Shaw House is one of the best preserved Elizabethan mansions in England. Over the centuries Shaw House has welcomed royalty, seen action during the Civil War, housed soldiers during World War II and schooled generations of local children. The House is now used as a Conference and Meetings venue offering nine stunning rooms, all with their own historic character. The House is open to the public from February to September and school holidays, with a year round programme of events and family activities.
Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy the Grade II listed lawns, while our younger visitors can explore the grounds, play amongst the 16th century trees and, if that doesn’t keep them entertained, we also provide giant garden games in the warmer months.
Hip seats, suitable for children from 6 months to 3 years, are available while you explore the House, (please leave pushchairs on the ground floor).
Entry to the House and grounds is free but donations are most welcomed.
